First of all I want to say that I am very glad that I found this board. I have been working on my credit since March when Sovereign bank wouldn't let me open a checking account based on an Experian report. Until now, I was the only person I knew interested in trying to get my credit report back into reasonable shape. Friends, family, etc. couldn't be less interested in this project even though some of them have worse credit than mine.
I have searched through the posts and I couldn't find the answers to these questions. I apologize if I missed something covered.
    (1) It seems like some of you are able to view your Transunion report online regularly. Do you pay each time? I got their report but it was only good for viewing for 6 days and it didn't update during that time. It just showed the same original report.
    (2) How do you get your Experian score? I have Credit Expert but it looks like the Experian score can be different.
    (3) Does anyone have experience with a fragmented/severed/multiple report at Equifax? I seem to have either 2, 3, or 4 reports with them. Every time I call or receive something from them, it's completely different info. I have had the hardest time working w/ them.
    (4) except for "Doc's trick" how much luck have people had removing "hard inquiries"? I have had zero. Just some nastiness from Experian.
    and
    (5) why should the bureaus care if you're on a personal "credit repair" mission? Who wouldn't want the best credit they can have especially if companies can't back up their negative claims? Doesn't make sense but I have found that a lot of this credit stuff doesn't.
Thank you very much for reading this and perhaps responding.

You can view a refreshed report as often as you like, just same you have been denied credit(evryday for the next year! :) )

If you have CE, this service provides a score as well. Are you not seing it on the 'welcome' page?

    Welcome to the board!

I do see a score on CE but I thought that it is my CE score not my Experian score. I guess I am confused.

W/ TU, should I go back and try to sign up online again saying that I was denied credit based on a report by them. I paid for that 1st report. I was denied accounts based on Experian and Equifax (the KMART one even though they SAID I was preapproved.)
Does TU know that it wasn't their report being used?

You can say you were denied credit as often as you like(even if that is not true). TU does not check this. No need to pay for this report. I dont it this way since March. Just a reminder though, the TU score is not the most accurate(actually not accurate at all) so don't get excited if it is high or low. The score a creditor pulls(from TU) is completely different.

The CE score is fairly accurate though.

Thank you for the advice. Too bad about the TU score. It was by far my highest even considering it can go to 9XX. I can't even get a score from Equifax b/c I can't get online w/ them due to the crazy multiple report situation.

I would call Equifax and make sure your name, social security number, and address are being reported correctly. I would also call all your creditors that have open accounts and have them check/update the spelling of your name. If you find an inconsistency, I would call them back again the next day to make sure any changes you asked them to make sunk in their database. The credit bureaus use first and last names for tracking people. Sometimes if a person has a name that is similar to other people then you may have a problem.

What happens is that the companies that have your open accounts have their computers update your account information once a month to each of the three major credit bureaus. If your name is spelled differently with a particular creditor, then when they report to a CRA, that name goes to the top of the list of your names and aliases at that CRA.

You get your score for your Equifax file at http://www.myfico.com
You got your score and Equifax report for $12.95

You get your score for your TransUnion file at http://www.eloan.com
Look under tools and resources, free credit report and score. You get your score for free.

As far as I know there is no way at the current time to get your Experian FICO score. The one they sell is a different score.

Inquiries do not affect your score after 12 months so if you have less than 6 or so on each credit file it's probably not worth your time to dispute them.

The customers to the CRA are your creditors. You a just a nuisance to them. They just don't like to hear the words credit repair.

Thank you for your help and advice.
    I really appreciate it.
    Re: Equifax
I have called the creditors that are currently reporting on me to verify that they have my correct info and they say they do. I think that it's a mistake within the Equifax system. They will send me reports with misspellings of my name, wrong address and date of birth and then when I call them, they say they have the correct information for me. Half the time, they can't even locate the reports that they send out to me and will say thet they're gone from their system. But then I'll get a copy of something completely different in the mail. Interstingly their cover letters have the correct info.
I can't get a score from the online Equifax fico because of this. That's how I found out about my problem with them. They let me register and then wouldn't give me the score, saying that "the system has heavy traffic right now." Called them and the fun began.

Does e-loan add an inquiry to your reports if you go through them?

P.S. I thought about the public assistance thing but I was afraid that it would somehow turn up on my report. Good to know it doesn't!

And I just love how it seems like even though you can get a score from these people (maybe) the one they actually sell is different.

Okay, I answered my own question by going to e-loan.

Correct reports cause their customers to loose millions
The only thing that makes sense about it is it allows them to pilfer millions.
