Today, I got a couple of post cards I want to share with everyone. On the front it says "THIS MAY BE YOURF FINAL NOTICE". 1) Then a 800 # in large letters 2) A confirmation or activation number 3) A time limit to respond (one says 48 hrs, the other 72). 4) Membership type with the boxes "unsecured" and "platinum" or "Diamond" checked. 5) "Approved Credit Limit" ($4,000 on one, $5,000 on the other). On the flipside: 1) "CREDIT APPROVAL NOTIFICATION" 2) Date (one dated July 6, 2001 - tomorrow!) 3) "Dear first/last name, We're notifying you that your credit card HAS NOT been activated Our records shows this car to have a credit line of $x,xxx.xx. Please call (800-371-1838) or (800-705-9202) now for immediate activation. Enjoy your new credit status." One card has the MasterCard logo on the front, but neither mentions the kind of card. Be on the lookout!
Scam, scam, scam, big time!!! A creditor would not send a post card to remind you of a card that has not been activated. Also, why do they need your card number????? Don't they already know it? Thanks for the insight. To the shredder they will go...
A POSTCARD?!? That's scarey. Like just anyone could read the darn thing and activate something, scam or not, in your name? I think I would be finding out who this company is and what they're about and maybe report this to the FTC and the BBB.
