Most of you will probably be like, duh! But wanted to pass on this article. If someone claiming to be your utility company calls and says "We will be shutting off your service immediately, if you don't buy a pre-paid debit card to pay us $xxx.xx that you owe us", it's a scam. They will drain the pre-paid card of its entire value, and leave you penniless, without the recourse that you have with other credit cards, like chargebacks. Yahoo!
Thanks jam! I actually got a call a few months ago like that... I was like first of all I'm not giving you any of my personal information (he wanted my social security number)... and I knew it was a scam because we live in housing provided by the military that's furnished and has cable, etc, where we aren't responsible for any of the bills. Needless to say I ever so nicely told him to get lost. Ha!
That is awful! I am sure this has worked on many people, especially the ones that always pay their bills on time. They might freak out and do exactly what they say. This is good advice, thanks for sharing. Heather with BoostMyScore.NET
