Hi Everyone-I'm really glad to have found this board. I have some old credit problems that I am trying to clear up and am gathering as much info as possible before tackling this. #1 problem-I have an old credit debt (about 3 yrs) that I owe $4000 on. Whats the best way to handle this? I know I owe this money but can't afford to just dish out $4000, otherwise I would do that.
#2 I have had a cellphone for about a year, never made a late payment and would like this reflected on my credit report. After pulling my reports I see the cellphone co. is not reporting anything. Is it unreasonable to ask them to report this to credit bureaus?
#3 I'm getting married in May. My fiance has credit much worse than mine. We are working on cleaning it up, but it will take a long time to fix. How would taking his name affect my credit? Will I be liable for his debts? I was thinking of not taking his name til later on, if thats even possible. Thanks!!!!!

His existing credit issues do not affect (and will not affect) your credit profile.

The only way your credit will be hurt, is if you apply for a "JOINT" account, or he adds you to all or some of his accounts as a "JOINT"...

Cellphone accounts usually do not report, unless you default.
