I'm a college student with some major credit problems. I owe about $3,500 in total unscured debt. I cannot even afford to go to CCC because I enrolled before and it was $250 and I couldn't afford to make basic living expenses and was forced to drop out. I have two bank accounts that were charged off and I can't get a bank account so I have to use one my fiance opened for me. I can't afford to pay this back on a part-time job wages and being in school. I don't want to file bankruptcy, but do I really have a choice if I can't even do CCC?
How long ago did you default? Which card companies are we talking about? What is your field of study? Perhaps the card companies would make a deal with you to pay off later - probably depends of a lot of factors. How did you get into this mess?
I am majoring in psychology and sociology. I didn't use to have bad credit until a year and a half ago. I had three major credit cards, one discover, one with citibank, and one with providian. I owe on two bank accounts, a $700 cell phone bill (don't ask),and a department store card. I didn't know how to manage my money, I figured I could afford to make minimum payments and I would work more hours or whatever which was really stupid I know. I haven't paid any creditors since December because I seriously do not have the money to at all. I don't answer the phone unless I know who it is because the creditors call me all the time. I have no assets,no money, and if they sued me they really wouldn't get much of anything because I'm basically judgement proof. I know I should call my creditors but I know they are going to demand money that I can't give them, I'm starting a summer job but most of that has to go to pay for school in the fall. I cannot and will not drop out of school because then I will end up paying student loans so that is not an option.
