Should have spent a few days here before disputing some things on TU report.

Here's are 2 of the problems I'm trying to fix:

    1. Judgement - Providian - last payment 07/01 - filed judgement 01/02 - got judgement 03/02.

I was in middle of divorce while all this was going on. Needless to say, it was the least of my worries.
Papers were served at house where my ex lived (Ihad not lived there for 9 months). He signed for it. Don't know if its enough to try to vacate.

I had to make partial payment to get them to release lien against house (which I got in divorce) so I could sell it. In Texas they can't really get homestead, but to save a lot of delays, I pd. $5kof $17k. I now have what is officially called "partial release."

    2. This is also a charge off.

Instead of dispute as "not mine," I disputed as paid.

Did I shoot myself in the foot?

Not at all...not even close. You have the right to have them verify everything on your report, and that is what you did. Hopefully they will delete it, some of my majors got deleted painlessly through a simple dispute...good luck.

    Crossing fingers.

Thanks to everyone for all the good info & inspiration. Feel like I'm on a mission now.

Even with 1 judgement, 2 charge-offs, and 2 other negs, my TU score is 648.

I guess it could be a lot worse, but I'm working for a lot better.

Have several other disputes and am going to pull other reports. Will get all my little ducks in a row and send off my letters whatever date is decided on during CHOD.
