Been devouring this site and a few others with great interest...I'm ready to go at these CA's will full force!

I'm not sure if I am supposed to post my CR (minus personal info) here or what...? Will standby on that until I hear from a seasoned poster. I'll give you all a brief summary of my situation.

I have been living overseas since 2003. I am moving back to the US in Feb 2006. I knew my credit was in foul shape (a divorce, plus general irresponsibilty on my part). My score is in the 562-584 range.

My parents have been getting phone calls (their address is incorrectly listed as mine with TU), so I know CA's are sniffing around for me.

In total, I owe about $22,000 between 3 credit cards. One of these accounts have been sold to Unifund, who I understand are one of the worst in the business. There are about a dozen inquiries on my CR from various CA's in the past 2 years.

The SOL on all 3 accounts runs out Sept. 2006. I do not own any property or vehicles, and I am currently unemployed. When I relocate next year, of course, I will seek employment.

My worries at this point are wage garnishment and a levy on my bank account. I am planning on using an internet bank when I return stateside, so hopefully this will keep my cash safe. If my wages get garnished, it would only be short-term, as I am going to college full-time Fall 2006, and will only have GI Bill benefits to live on. (I don't think they can garnish this, but I could be wrong.)

I've asked my folks to mail me any coorespondance I have recieved at their address.

Right now I am in a strong position because the CA's cannot find me. My CR lists my employer as the US Air Force. I left the service in 2003, and part of me likes the justice of knowing the CA's may be trying to find me through that route. Ha!

Also, my last name on my CR is incorrect, thought I have updated my name change with Social Security.

Once I get the info from my folks, I will do the validation letters. I just need to get to September without being sued, then I will start to repair my CR (I will make a few disputes until then...just on some old stuff that needs to be deleted).

What steps can I take to stall the legal process against me? Will the validation letter process help? Should I definitely NOT update my personal info on my CR? My logic is that if they are looking in the wrong places for me, this will just frustrate them and cost them more money. :)

It's difficult to know exactly what tactics the CA's are using, since I have never spoken with them or received any coorespondance from them.

    Any advice?
