Hey all, Following the Sticky instructions, I have been hovering and reding for the requisite two weeks and am ready to jump in! I have paid down all debt other than installment accounts, but have 8 negative items on my report, giving me a score of 608 - wah. So I'm on a mission to get them off. Have 4 goodwill letters written for 30-day lates from two years ago. I have one more that I'm not sure what to do with. I financed a car through Honda and had one 30-day late in 2003. I have since paid the car in full and have no further credit with them. Do I send them a letter too? I have a collection account and have asked for a pay-for-delete through email. She responded that they would mark it "paid in full." I asked her to please reconsider and kind of fell on my sword. We'll see what happens. Lastly, I have requested a debt validation on something I am unsure of. We'll see what happens there. I'm not sure where to send these goodwill letters. I remember seeing a post, but can't find it now. Thanks!
You'd be wasting your time with Honda and really, a 30 day late that old isn't going to affect your scores. PFD's should come after a request for validation and request for re-investigation through the credit reporting agencies. In fact, I would recommend disputing everything (by data field such as date of last activity, account type, pay status, or anything incomplete, etc.) and address whatever remains in the fashion you're now contemplating. Good job on researching though. You're on the right track.
