I'm a college senior and a got a few cards (3) to pay for things since I get practically no help from my family. I paid one card off. One of them I have a valid dispute with. I paid $1360 to a community college because it was cheaper than my regular univeristy for summer school. The courses should've been $400 but they handle their accounting oddly.

I paid $1360 instead of $400 because I lived outside of the city but inside of the county (the college is even farther out of the city). I also had a $600 grant that required me to be registered before it was paid. My classes were supposed to be free but didn't come out that way.

I paid 1360 w/ a card to register. I then changed my address to that of a friend in the city limits so I could get $960 refunded to my card. Then my grant paid for the rest. The problem is that at the time my account went deliquint the $1360 had yet to be refunded after two months. This is what caused my card to go over balance because of interest. I couldn't pay it and got a $30 late fee, then another $30 over balance fee. They wanted a $60 min before I could start paying on my account. I was broke and only had $30, my previous min had been $15 a month. That was 2 years ago. Now they've sold the account to a CA but I don't know which one. They used to call me but not anymore. How do I find out who has the account so I can dispute it? I have another card that I would also like to validate and verify with it's CA too but I never get any contact from them whatsoever.

is thee a CA listed on your CR ? if not write a letter to the Oc and request the information of which Ca they referred your acct out 2. they should respond.

if that doesnt work try sending a pament into the Oc .

I have had an experience where as long as I made a minimual payment amount to an OC it prevented them from forwarding me to collections or pursing me in court, this was my good faith effort to uphold my responsibilities .

of course I recieved nasty letters saying they were going to refuse my payment unless it was in full, etc. but they never did they always tried to get more, but in the end if they took me to court they had no means to enforce getting any more out of each month as I proved my ability to pay.

    good luck :)

I went to the school today and picked up my financial info. It's just a computer print-out though. Is it any good in court?

The file looks a bit shady. It shows that I paid tuition on 5/11/02 and was refunded 5/20/02. However I was harassed well into August 2002 (when I stopped paying), when it should've taken 6 weeks max to show my refund on my account. This is what caused me to go over my limit which led to my delinquent account.

The reports from TU and EXP came in today. The problem is that they still don't say who my account is sold to. Does anyone know how to find that information out. I've contacted the OC with no response yet.

I sent a validation letter to DC and it was received at 4am. They called me today around 4:30pm trying to collect. Is that legal?
