    Hello all,

    Newbie here,
Been reading through the posts alll morning, just starting out.
Realizing its time for me to take action to repair my credit and a little bit frightened by some events as of later, looking for some direction...any advice appreciating.

Im 27 and Last June I lost my mom to cancer. In the months that followed her death I made a lot of financial mistakes that have, at this point, put me in a less than desirable situation to say the very least.

    Fast forward to last week....
I received a phone call and the very next day a letter from GC Services Limited Partnership, regarding a charged off chase account I have totalling an amount of 1395.00. I made the mistake of discussing the account with CA over the phone. The CA offered me a few settlement options, indicating they were doing ME a favor by making sure this did not escalate or I would wind up in court, none of these options of which I was really sure would work for me. I did not agree to or provide any of my checking information via phone, I simply told the CA I would need to look into it to see if I could and call them back. I know the debt is mine, but I can in no way shape or form pay any kind of lump settlement even if its for less for than full amount of the account due. How do I go about settling this account? Can I structure a settlement that entails me making monthly payments and do it via letter?

Do I just ignore the phone calls?
Im 100% completely terrified I will wind up in court trying to resolve this.

    Please help this frightened newbie.

So call them back and work out a monthly payment arrangement on the full balance if you are unable to take a settlement.

I wasnt even really sure that was still an option.
All I want is to work it out, pay it down and move on but it all becomes a little overwhelming.

    Thanks.
