Been lurking, great site and great support on here. Finally decided I should ask my question.
I have 5 CC accounts that are behind. Let's just say I have been out of the country for an extended period of time due to my job(yes, Military). I had auto pay set up on them, but due to an error, auto pay stopped. I did not find this out until I just recently returned.
I am not trying to get out of paying, I am more than happy to pay the accounts, however, I need the derogatory info removed from my CRs.
So, my question is.. Do I call the CCs and explain the situation, hope for some understanding and work it out? Or do I go for "Pay for Delete"?

Any and all advice is greatly appreciated.

First welcome back, and thanks for serving. :)

Now how far behind are they? And are they in collections yet?

Thanks for your service. Now the next step.

Go to your JAG office. There are specific laws offering protection to military.

Since we're no longer active duty I haven't kept up with changes, but they'll be able to advise you.

    ShannonE,

    Sorry for the slow response.

I have 3 that are 120+, as far as I can tell, only one is in collections but the actual CC called this weekend(left message), I haven't returned the call yet.
Trying to figure out best plan. Would like to work it out to pay them off in full if I can get derogs removed.

Hedwig is right. Call the JAG office ASAP. You have special protections as a member of the armed services who was deployed.

Also, since the debts aren't with collection agencies yet, call the original creditors right away and let them know the situation with you being deployed BEFORE they assume the worst about your situation and their chances at ever being paid again and submit your accounts to some bottom-feeder CA. At least that way you only have to deal with one creditor, not two. Good luck!
