i thought my credit was clear....turns out i was wrong. apparently a credit card from college in on there, maybe 3 or 4 years old and out of the blue a CA contacted me saying they wanted payment (how they got my cell phone is beyond me unless ford gave it out????) the only payment plan they would offer is three payments of the size i could not afford and they said the first one had to be by the 31st because they had to give their recomendation by then (whatever that means.....veiled threat?) well i ignored them the next few days because as i told them, i cannot afford their terms and they called up through yesterday and then today no calls? so i am past the 31st they stopped calling.....what would this "recomendation" be? should i still contact them or will that just open it up again? i am confused as i haven't been in this situation before and not sure what to do.
if you make contact, do it in writing only. Every contact certified mail, return receipt. Sounds like a collection agency to me, but I am confused what FORD has to do with your credit card. What type of card was it? This could help us know a little bit more about your situation. What do you owe? How much were they wanting to settle for and WHO is it that is contacting your cell phone?
well i have never really used credit since this card so they would have had no contact info for me i am guessing and when i recently got a loan from ford credit i used my cell as my contact number as i am never at home and then a few weeks after this loan went through this CA contacted me regarding this bill. i could only assume this is how my cell number got out as i really only gave it out to friends and for business before that. i owe around $800 give or take and they made no mention of settle and i am not sure who these people are....they only said they represented the people that i had my card through. so i really don't even have an address to start up contact.....i suppose i could call them and ask they send me their info but wasn't sure that is what i wanted to do.
