First, I want to say thank you, thank you, thank you!
I've been working on my own to clean up DH's and my credit reports since March. Wish I'd know about you then. I'm scared I've messed some up.

Background: We had a bk discharged 2 yrs ago in Sept.

As of 4/21 our scores DH ME
    EFX 503 576
    TU 472 586
    XPN 476 566

I've had many deletes and updates since then, but do not have a cc to get the new scores, but hopefully orchard is on the way, then I'll try Bumpage :)

    I've only dealt with CRA's.

    Now for my questions;)
My non government SL's were discharged with bk(they reported it) now they are saying pay, even though I disputed with one CRA and they were DELETED. Do I pay? or not worry about it? I had payed for over 5 years and had payed 2k 2 yrs before bk so 75% of the loan was paid off by then.

Is it better to leave an old account with 1 negative to have some history?

Where are the best places to start getting credit? My banker told me I need at least 4 lines of credit and I only have 1 deferred student loan.

How do I get EXP to remove old addresses? I did with evebody else but EXP is giving me a hard time.

Thank you so much. I really need to get out of this contract for deed for 10.5 %

If they were discharged, you do not owe them. I'm not sure what you mean by they say PAY?
sometimes it is.. what kind of account, what is the negative, and what is the date of the negative?

LOL, I haven't touched a cc application in over a year. No BK, just lousy scores. It really depends what and how stuff is still reporting. There is a thread entitled "credit cards after bankruptcy" you'll have to search for it, but there is probably excellent advice there.
We call them Evil Experian. What kind of hard time? Did you call or write? I suggest writing.

Yuck, that is ugly...LOL, things will get better! Have you looked into FHA? They aren't score driven.
    Welcome to the Board!

    Thanks jlynn,
The bank where I had my sl's are saying to make the payments and yet the bank is reporting it as included on the bk(I didn't know this until I had my credit pulled for a mortgage in Apr) so I stopped paying. After April, I disputed on one credit report that still showed 2 of the loans and all three came back deleted.

The oldest account has one 30 day and it was a car. It drops off EXP 12/03.

I can't qualify for FHA until Sept. so my goal is to get our scores up by then.

Thanks for the advice to write EXP on addresses. What's weird is they've been one of the easiet to dispute CL's. TU gives me the most trouble and won't let me do my dh's over the phone.

I'm glad to know I'm not alone. It's been a battle trying to learn this stuff on my own. I'm so glad I found you.

I would check your BK papers. If they were indeed discharged, and the bank is trying to collect, I believe they are in violation of the stay that the BK itself generated. You could make them squirm :)

Are you sure they were discharged? Bankruptcy papers list all your debts, including ones that are not discharged. I've had a few of my customers mistakenly think they didn't have to pay a debt because they saw it mentioned in their bankruptcy papers only to get in trouble for it later.

It's also common for a credit report to show a debt as "included in bankruptcy" even if it's not discharged by that bankruptcy.

I'm not an expert on student loans. My understanding is that they can't be discharged in bankruptcy, but I don't know if that applies to non-government backed loans or not. Maybe someone else can clarify that?

In any case, September isn't far away. You will need to get that resolved before you get that FHA mortgage.
