i need some help getting started. i have been lurking for months and have done a lot of reading .. i am just afraid to mess up! i would appreciate any help you guys can give me...

here are all of my derogs:

3 (small) medical collections. I paid all of them about five months ago, but only one is showing as paid on two reports. the DOLA on each is in 1999.

southwestern bell for $224 DOLA:10/2001 (not paid)

now here is the one that confuses me:
net 1st national bank credit card charge off. i opened this card in 2001 .. i am sure some of you are familiar with it ... pay as you go card with $500 limit. i recieved my card, paid the first bill .. and then never heard from them again. no bills in the mail or phone calls. i never used the card - kind of forgot about it .. until i pulled my credit reports...and saw that it was charged off. i called and found out that the bank had been closed and aquired by the FDIC.
now on my reports TU and Exp are reporting it as a charge off .. but equifax is reporting it as paid as agreed with 30 days past due 2 times and 60 days 1 time. i dont know where to even start on this one.
    help!

    Hi Stef,

I'm fairly new too so I'll give you what worked for me.
All my accounts are charged off so I disputed with the CRA as Not Mine. I got a few deletions this way.
It was pretty easy to do.

I'm not sure what you should do with the other bills.
    I haven't had that situation.

I'm sure some others will respond with some more advice.

I would start by disputing wit the CRAs, you never know what will just get deleted.

While you are waiting for the CRAs to respond I would draw up a plan, what will I do with each account as if I have to proceed? you might try a goodwill â??pay for deleteâ? letter for SBC you may not get a good response but I would not pay them right away without a delete.

I would consider the â??nutcaseâ? letter on the paid collections people seam to have alot of success with it (you can do a search and find it)

but mostly I would write down what issues you have on each report, decide how you are going to attack each one and write that down too. You can search this site for similar situations and study what has worked for others. Good luck and keep us posted.

    Hi Stef,

    Welcome.

Your reading is not over yet. :)

Go and read this law. It's fairly short but covers your situation. You have every right to recieve a bill.

    http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fcb/fcb.pdf

    It's a PDF

Am I going to have problems if I dispute everything negative on my reports at the same time? I seem to remember reading something about not sending a bunch of disputes all at once.

Also, is it better to dispute with CRAs by CRRR or online?

    Thanks for your help!

If you do too many at once they might consider it frivilous and not investigate.

From reading other posts it seems like more than 4 is taking a chance. What I did was do 4 then do 2 more 10 days later.

I did mine online and it worked OK. From my reading it seems either way is OK for your 1st round.

Others might offer some more advice.
