    Hello all,

I have been sitting on the sidelines reading for over a month now. I will make this short. I have 2 charge off . 1 from Citibank for $14,000 and 1 with Nextcard for $5600.c They are both over 2 yrs old. The rest of my credit is excellent. Paid off my car of over 15K and have been paying on $38,00 of school loans for the last 4 yrs.

About a yr ago I paid this lady some money to make some of this stuff go away. She was able to get one of the reports to take off Nextcard but the others are still there. So I have 5 items that need to be fixed.

Today, I recieved a letter from Platinum Recovery Solutiuons stating my charge off has been taken up by them. The letter went on to say I can dispute within 30 days or they will see it as mine.

What should I do? Write them or not?

Thanks sorry for the long post
    Today, I recieved

dispute as not mine. If they verify make them validate.

Validate it. Search on here for validation letters and validate it. Then dispute it with the CRA's.

    validate them now!

Avoid the argument that you went beyond the 30 day period.

Can you settle the debt? I assume that this is yours?

I would validate and make sure it's strictly according to the law.

Then, once it's validated, I would offer 20% of the debt in exchange of full deletion by CA and OC.

Regardless of what may be told, never negotiate with a collection agency. Send them a validation letter. The one that says that you choose not to work with collection agencies and that you will take up the matter with the original creditor.
A collection agency will NEVER negotiate for OC and CA deletion. YOu will find this letter in the sample letter section here at Cnet. I have used it with Arrow financial, one of the toughest and it worked.

i talked with the CA who have been assigned my debt today. he told me he would reduce my total from $1549 to $1241, i'm wondering how low can they go? I feel like offering them $900. Was also told my OC that they will not deal with me, so where does this leave someone? Is a val and c&d still the best route?

I'd offer them 500 now for full on deletion by both the OC and CA.

Get it in writing, signed by an authorized person on their letterhead. Then once paid with certified funds, get a copy of the UDF. Write that into the contract as a clause.
