Sent my first notices to a series of collectors. Some were medical and some were utilities. My first letter back was from a CA trying to collect on a utility bill. I used the standard validation letter. They send me back a form letter and a billing printout enclosed for the last two years. They did not complete or send any info on the Creditor disclosure statement. They also stated that they sent the collection letter to my current address which is bunk because the fowarding order never got processed. We moved in Feb. but the mail never got fowarded. They had no record of my new address. They want me to contact the OC to ask any questions on the charges, a paultry 80.00. However they are the ones who entered the info on my credit report. What now, do I try to pay and have them delete or threaten to nail them on a violation of FCRA or send out a letter to the OC. Seems that the CA wants to shift the responability but their the ones who reported to the CRA. I would have paid this garbage bill if I knew about it, but now I'm P.O.d big time. Oh get this, they want me to inform them of the status of my dispute with the OC too.
Any answers??? Some one has had to have this happen to them. I'm considering writing them and telling them that the OC will not deal with me, and sending a second request. In that letter should I mention the voilations or not? I will wait to receive my new report and see if they mark it as disputed. Any help???
