Hi all, Brand new to the board with a question. Thanks in advance if you know the answer! I recently applied for an American Express Business Gold Card and was rejected. They did not list a specific reason in the letter. Should I write to them REQUESTING a specific reason? Any advice appreciated. By the way, I used to have an Amex Business Gold Card. Then, my husband's business failed and Amex closed my account for late payment. Card was paid in full, however, after I lost the card. Wish I'd found this board before we paid it off! Thanks again!
American Express told me they generally approve when a credit score is at least 680. They just approved me last month for the Business Gold Card.
Thanks. Glad you were approved! Being generally new to the arena of "trashed credit," I have another question: What's the least expensive way to learn one's credit score? Thanks!
Depends on what you are aiming to do. If you want just your score and report. Go to myfico.com, this is the FICO score. Do a search here to obtain a promo code for a discount off the price. If you need to review your reports on a regular basis, try Privacy Guard, they are offering a 2 month promo for $1.00. You can view all three of your reports everday. The score PG provides is a FAKO score. Best regartds, Mirage
Thanks so much for the tip about privacy guard, although I'm wondering what a FAKO score is. Still also wondering what tack I should take with American Express. Thanks again!
Re: Newbie Question: American Expr FAKO scores are not FICOs, basically meaning that your scores can be way off from the real FICO scores.
Re: Re: Newbie Question: American Express I really don't have advice on the Amex biz cards but your recent payment history may have something to do with the rejection. Amex is one of the toughest cc to obtain. By all means give them a call. If you do decide to apply for an Amex personal cc, I would pull all 3 CRs from myfico.com and see what your scores are and what if any negatives are on the reports. From what I understand Amex generally pulls EQ but that is not written in stone. Best regards, Mirage
Re: Re: Newbie Question: American Express Thats what I though too......Surprise!!! Pulled EXP instead.
Re: Re: Newbie Question: American Express call amex and ask for new accounts and explain your situation the best you can they might help...... also if your gonna pull your score pull it from my fico .com that will show all three true scores ........
