    Hello Everyone
I am new at posting but have been reading for months. I have just started on my journey of credit repair. So far I have gotten 5 accounts off out of 13 I have disputed. I am impressed!!

Now for the question.............I would like to know what about charged off accounts that are within the SOL. Is it possible to successfully have them removed?
I have a Sears account that went into collections in the year 2000. It is for about $1500. What are the chances of me getting them deleted and them leaving me alone through the validation/disputing process. Just wondering if I am thinking way out of the box.

You guys are great!! this board has given me hope that I can again have good credit.

There's a lot of good information regarding dealing with collection agencies and chargeoffs in the FAQ. Note especially the passages regarding "validation." That said, you may also want to consider negotiating the debt and including CRA reporting as part of the settlement. Read the first few informtional threads on this board, and then keep us posted! Good luck to you,

    Doc

I have had one removed, but it woke them up, and they are trying to collect.
If a CA comes after you, it is possible to hold them at bay, but if its the OC they do not have to follow the FDCPA.

In a nutshell - its a crapshoot. Sorry!

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I wasn't sure if you could even have one of those removed with out waking the beast.

I was wondering if you sent a validation letter to the collection agency and they couldn't validate they were SOL and thats not meaning satute of limitations lol.

But anyway, I guess I will have to think about that when the time comes. I am just at the point of getting the old accounts off and then I will go for the newer ones.....maybe. Thanks again
