trying to fix credit after a divorce.... last year I paid some old debts...credit scores went down... this year I disputed some items. credit scores went down again... actually TU deleted some judgements and accts...experian just updated this collection agency info- that shows 4 unpaid utility accts- we sent a letter from the utlity stating accts were paid.thay did not even updata accts as paid... what next? i'm afraid that if I dispute accts that are obviously not mine score will drop again. I can sit and wait-actually I started building some positve credit-but it goes slow-hard to be aprooved for a cc with these problems. From my estimates score will be fair/good again around 2010...it's a long wait... and again, just updated my 3in1 from TU and scores went down -only new info was recently posted from the CR on 8/24 is a collection acct-not even mine, that update info...(this new collection acct just appeard no notifcation letter, no idea who's the creditor) and one old collection was removed... I am really confused and looking from some advice...
ok, let me try being more specific... Q1. I have this collection acct reported I did not heard of...it's not mine... how do I go about removing it. 1.contact the original creditor first and have them verify info. 2.contact CA and have them validate , and also ask them how comes I did not receive initial letter... 2.contact CRA and dispute...\ Q2.what doo I do about the 4 collection accts that were not reported paid a year ago... 1. require CA to delete them or I report their fault to FTC (paid accts v. derogatory/did not satisfy debt) would add some more points to credit score, so their faillure to report them paid had affected me. but noew I want them remove... 2. report directly to FTC... Q3. what made my score drop if there are no changes on acct but the removal of 2 old collection accts (did not dispute them, they were just removed)...I mention that it does not affect my credit history (have some positve older accts)...it only decreases the total # of accts, and total debt...
