This is my very first post on CreditTalk...Due to a divorce in 2005, I am currently in the process of rebuilding me credit in order to purchase a home. I have recently submitted dispute letters to all 3 major credit bureauses. I got great news from Transunion, received a letter as well as an updated report stating that all the items that I disputed have been removed. Yea, one down, 2 to go. My question is, according to the Fair Credit Act, the bureaues have 30 days in order to investigate and respond to my request, otherwise they have to remove the items. Is that 30 business days or calendar days? I know that that may sound like a trivial question, however, I submitted my written request to Equifax and Experian on August 26th, 2010 and have yet to receive a response...
Welcome to the forum! I'd give things a little more time to play out. The 30 days you're referencing are calendar days, but in some cases they might have 45 days to investigate your dispute. For example, if you pulled your credit reports from annualcreditreport.com this would be the case.
