This is my first post after finding this site yesterday. Talk about information overload! What a great website! Anyways, I am hoping someone can steer me in the right direction. Heres my situation... I pulled my TU a few days ago only to be baffled on what alot of it means. I filed BK7( unfortunately) in 1997 and 5 of the accounts that were disharged are showing up as follows..... company #1 >included in bk< Updated: 07/2002 Closed: 05/2000 >status as of 5/2000: Unrated< What does "updated" and "closed" mean? Why was this closed in 2000 when it went BK in 97? company #2 Updated: 7/2002 Closed: 12/2001 >status as of 12/2001: charged off as a bad debt< This particular acct. shows a balance, most owed and past due amounts. Am I to believe this account was open till 2001 and then charged off? I hope not cause it was discharged in 1997! These are just 2 of 5 accounts listed like this on my TU report. Am I reading too much into these dates since they were included in BK and will be off in 5 years? Or does something look fishy? I will be calling TU tomorrow but thought I would post here for any info. thank you for reading!! Mark
They aren't being reported correctly. You need to dispute them with the cra's as "date closed incorrect- this was included in bk filed in 1997. Please correct" or something to that effect. They should read:included in bk. acct closed 1997 zero balance.
