Hi. I've been reading these boards for a couple weeks. I have obtained credit reports from all 3 CRAs. I received a letter from a CA the other day stating they purchased an acct. from Chase and I owe over 3,000. I suspect this may be an old cc I had in college from long, long ago as the only other chase acct I have is current and has never been late. I see nothing on any of the 3 credit reports about this older chase acct. How do I proceed? The SOL in my state is 5 yrs for cc and that has long since passed. I truly searched for a similar situation and although I'm sure someone has expereinced this, I wasn't able to find any answers. Also, can someone point me to a link that helps explain the process of getting rid of old (maiden) names and addresses on your cr? If there many innaccuracies in your personal information, do each of these have to be addressed seperately (i.e. wrong/old address and wrong/old name)? My eyes are blurry from searching. Thanks in advance! I look forward to cleaning up mine and my husbands credit reports so if we ever get that 2nd baby we've been hoping for, we can start looking for a larger house!
simply write to the CRA's and state "i rec'd copies of reports and this info is wrong......" Then once that is done, opt out and send this CA a DV.
