I've been reading the board for several months and finally got up the nerve to ask a question. I have been working on cleaning up my husbandâ??s credit report for about a year now, and with help from your invaluable information, have had a lot of successes. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. Now for the question. Noticed on my husband TU report 2 Account Review Inquires done by Cavalry Investments both on 8/2002. As I have never seen their name appear on his reports and have never received any correspondence from them, I called to ask why they had pulled it. I've had a few "new" CA's suddenly sending collection letters and I was afraid this was going to be another one of them. They didn't have his SS# on file and I didn't give them his name. So they couldnâ??t give me a reason WHY they pulled his report. They asked if he had recently paid off any debt, but really havenâ??t. So is this a $1000 violation or not? Or should I just be happy they havenâ??t tried to collect anything? Appreciate any help. Thanks again for all of the knowledge you have shared!
If this is a hard Inquire yes if it is a soft inquire no.check to see if it falls under a hard inquire or soft soft means you are the only one that sees it a hard one is that any person can see this .
Send this CA a validation Letter today. They are poisioning your reports because any notation about a CA is negitave derog. Inquiries by a CA are not good.
Thats not quite right. Even though it was a soft inquiry, an AR is an account review which means they pulled your entire credit report. If Calvary does not have an account on the poster, they have no pp to pull an AR or a hard inquiry. I would send them a letter asking what their permissable purpose is, and in the absence of one to send you $1000 to save you from sueing them. http://www.ftc.gov/os/statutes/fcra/gowen.htm
Thanks for the responses! Yes it is a soft, meaning I am the only one who sees it, but it also was an Account Review, so they saw ALL of the report. I never gave my husband's name when I called to see why they pulled; only his SS#. When their system couldn't find anything under the SS, they asked for his name - I, of course, didn't give it because then they WOULD have his SS# if they had a file under his name. Tonight, I just called and had them search under his name and NOTHING! Guy said, "don't know why we pulled it, must have been a mistake." The report says they pulled it 2x, but on the same day. So am I asking for $1000 or $2000? Hope that doesn't sound tooooooo greedy. THANKS jlynn!
I had the same thing on my TU report...but mine showed up as a hard inquiry! I have no clue as to who they are or why they would be looking at my credit...
They are a CA, so they may have bought an account of yours. If you want to call them, one of the phone numbers is 877-222-8257. Good Luck.
