First I would just like to THANK everyone for all the great info. Have been reading everything the last few weeks and think I'm ready to get started!! I noticed on a credit report that a CA has reported an account every 7 days for the last 5 weeks..so it looks like 5 different accounts with all the same info!! How do I handle this??
Is it your account? Is the info on one entry correct, or do you know? Is it within the 7 year reporting period from the original date of delinquency? Is it past your state's SOL?
It is my account and it is only recently delinquent... The original creditor is a music store we rented a clarinet from for my daughter through her school for band, and when we moved in Dec. it got packed up and forgotten about until it popped up from a CA on my report. It states account opened in 04/06 and reported in 06/06 but it was actually opened with the original creditor in 10/05. I actually would like to return the clarinet and pay the original creditor what I owe (it's only $110.00) but if I make arrangements to do that, how do I handle the 5 CA entries?
