Thinking that it would be easy for me to get credit (naive) since I had none, I am having a BIG GIANT FAT problem obtaining credit. I am probably too picky for what I am after, but it just makes no sense to me to apply for a card and pay a monthly fee just to use it. Capital One Plat turned me down just a moment ago. I think with my salary plus maintenance income from ex, I would be able to easily obtain this one. Guess I was wrong. Any help, direction, or assistance that any of you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Thanks for this wonderful forum.

Have you checked your credit to see if there is something on there (like an account that is not yours)? You should also get your score.

Also, a lot of the posters here know what some ccc's requirements are to get approved, ask around, do some searches on the board.

Thanks QUEEN! Just applied for TARGET Guest card only and they told me that they'll let me know in two weeks. WHATEVER! I applied for this one after reading some previous posts. Oh well, maybe Capital One wills end me secured for $49 like I've read. I will even take $99 if they give it to me. And maybe Target just needs to check things out. I do have my credit reports. ALL BLANK. Not one single thing on there. I read here to request them and that is when I discovered nothing was there. Like NanaC I wil kindly refer to EX as troll. I sure hope he's happy paying all of those bills, because I shopped a heck of a lot on his name (AND HE STILL HAS TO PAY MUCHO DINERO TO MAMA for 5 years) HAHAHA!! All I need now is a boyfriend and a credit card. Forget getting remarried right now!

Why don't you start BUILDING your credit. Get a $500 secured loan or two from your bank or credit union. Put some of the MUCHO DINERO to work for you!! Charlie

Anyone you could get to add you as an authorized user? That and a secured card would at least get you started.

    STOP APPLYING.

Until we can work up a strategy that WILL work. You're hurting yourself.

Thanks for the advice guys. Hopefully the Capital One (partially secured) will come thru and I can work from there. I am consulting with someone on a real estate portfolio and hopefully that will get me in the game as well. No more applications until the big after Thanksgiving Sale. Thanks CREDIT TEAM!
