As a newbie, I felt I should comment on what has been going on here lately in regards to pulse, as well as her comments on how newbies are being treated by the veterans. I have been following this board daily for the last couple of months, and it has been my impression that the veterans have been more than gracious in offering their advice to people just getting started, as well as serving as a support group for people who are in financial crisis. I personally have benefited from this board greatly, and I have just barely begun my journey. I used to believe that my credit scores would prevent me from getting a home loan when I get married in a few years from now, but now I know that I at least have a fighting chance to do something about this. It has also been my impression that this process is exactly that...a process. It takes time. I myself have just started this process and I am willing to invest however much time is necessary to accomplish my goal. It seems by all the posts I have read that practically everyone who had tried to fix their credit has at least improved their credit in some way as a result of taking the advice on someone from this board. Their credit still might not be perfect but at least its a step in the right direction. I want to thank all of you that have responded to my limited number of threads and I will continue to post and let you know of any sucesses I might have. I don't know what I would have done without your support.
Tat, I totally agree!! I am also a "newbie" as I have been on board for several weeks just watching and learning. I have also benefited a great deal from this board and appreciate all of the input provided by the veterans. The post supplied by Pulse do not phase me or my desire to go forward with my credit repair journey. I am not trying to hide from any debt that I incurred in the past, but merely putting forth an effort to correct the discrepancies and negative information currently relected on my reports. Thanks for the words of wisdom from all of the veterans who make this board the best source of information available. Keep up the good work!!
Welcome TAT! I haven't seen any of your posts so far, but I look forward to hearing about your battles; especially the victories!
To both TAT and claygo I bid you both a hardy WELCOME and may this board help you to get where you wish to be. fla-tan
There yah go. A year ago all my scores were in the low 400s. Now they are 593,630, and 663. I have only been here about 2 months and they have really taken off since then. I just beat a CA and OC today(a dentist) when I called the OC and threatened them with the FCRA, FCBA, and the american dental assocoiate ethics statute. I made them aware that their little $150 bill would cost them bigtime. IF it had not been for this board I would not even know about the ADA or my rights and woulda probably given up and paid and had it ruin my credit for 7 more years. Now I win for a change.
I am in the same boat you were in picantel. I checked my fico score with Equifax in february and at that time it was 431 and my recent eloan score is 527. Something tells me eloan doesn't do a very good job of simulating credit scores, but thats another story. The important thing about this forum is that it is challenging the old ideas of how credit reports work and giving people hope for the future. I've discussed some of the ideas on this forum with my parents, who about 6 years ago had to declare bankruptcy and as a result have had to rent a home instead of own one. My mom's initial response was "Oh you can't do that, it'll never work" or "I've had credit a lot longer than you have and I know how the system works" etc... Hopefully the sucesses I make will inspire her to do the same. I believe that people like pulse, whoever she may be, are trying to prey on this mentality to keep people from empowering themselves. If she isn't an actual agent of the collection industry, she certainly is a metaphor for it.
I also wanted to chime in. I have had nothing but positive feedback to add for the board in general. I have learned a ton in the past couple of months while I was "lurking" in the background. I would also like to add that all of my scores has gone up as follows: TU - 545 ---> 618 Exp - 540 ---> 580 Eq - 570 ---> 633 I am by no means finished, but I feel like I have already accomplished something.... Please keep this board going strong, it is a great resource for all (vets and newbies alike).
Great! A special newbie thread! Welcome to the board. We have all been there, we know how it feels, and you can do it. Waiting to hear about your victories...
As a 2 month newbie myself I try and contribute as much as I can as I am a paralegal with years of experience in bks and irs probs...so I try and ferret out the threads where I can help. I have been able to help friends and family with the info I learned here at creditnet. I only hope I can give back what I've taken in the true spirit of this forum. Every contribution is a help and each new member another golden brick in the genuine 14K-ness of this board. clc
I am very new also, and want to say thank you to all the vets for there help. I have learned more in the last week that I have my entire life about my own credit. I have started the path I sent out my first validation letter on Friday, and am drafting a good will letter to go out this week. I didn't have hope of fixing my mistakes. then went looking for a silver bullet. I learned two things already; there is no true silver bullet but with a determination all wrongs can be made right. thanks again for all you who have posted with the intention of helping.
to dep_tex and all the other "newbies" that are reading and posting to this and other threads.... CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!! Welcome and these are the first steps in a long journey that you have ahead of you. Sometimes the journey will be smooth and other times it will be rockier that a boat in "The Perfect Storm (a great movie BTW)", but remember, this board and all its members are here to help. Whether it be advice, suggestions, or maybe just a shoulder to cry on. We are all on the journey together. And another thing, please remember, the only really stupid question is the one you do not ask. Love and hope to you all. fla-tan
My mom's initial response was "Oh you can't do that, it'll never work" or "I've had credit a lot longer than you have and I know how the system works" etc... I believe that people like pulse, whoever she may be, are trying to prey on this mentality to keep people from empowering themselves. TAT ============================ This is the mentality that has gotten us the consumer as a whole into this mess. It's the same one that allowed credit scoring to be implemented & encouraged the current behavior of CAs CRAs & OCs. It's also the one that raises it's ugly head whenever I offer the only remedy for the problem. The irony of such mentality is that it is self fulfilling. Apathy always leads to destruction.
I am also a Newbie and have been using the board for about two weeks. I have read alot of the advice the veterans have given and it has increased my outlook about my credit situation from, this is impossible to wait until this gets done. I truly want to thank all of the great people who post on this board. You have been an incredible and tremendous help.
Well that certainly adds a new element to the board. Welcome kbanger! Let the High Holy Credit War begin!
Lurking for months. Newbie??? Creditnet has given me hope!!! and a sense of empowerment over my credit situation. TU Feb. '02 588 July '02 622 Exp. 639 740 Equ 649 730 Thanks to all creditnetter oldtimers and Newbies. Trying to get a van and a home.
I think the thing I love most about this forum is that its really a community of people working towards a common goal. The support and information this site provdes is unparalleled, and believe me I've been to quite a few message boards dealing with credit and credit related issues. On a side note...my first disputes went out yesterday via CRRR. Depending on which report you look at I have between 6 and 9 negative items to get removed...we'll see what happens....
