Spoke with a Discover Rep, they told me they are going to soon be offering a Titianium card, which will be the new "prestige" card; a step above the Titanium. It will offer a lower interest rate and lower balance transfer offers. Just wanted to let everyone know. I haven't been able to find anything about it on the internet, and you never know how "soon" soon is.

If the new card gives a full 1% back on all purchases (not UP TO 1%), I will upgrade my Platinum card right away, otherwise it will remain in the drawer. I'm hoping for the best.

    matty61184,

I hope that they can upgrade my Discover Platinum Card into Titanium without applying.

I can confirm what Kelly said. Here are the contents of the email I received in response to my inquiry about the Titanium card:

Thank you for your response. The Discover(R) Titanium Card is slated to be released within the next few weeks. I will send you a secure message once it is available.

The Titanium Card offers many of the same features available with our other cards, including:

    1. Low Annual Percentage Rate (APR)
    2. The ability to access your Account and make payments online
    3. Auto Rental Coverage of up to $25,000.00
    4. $150,000.00 Travel Accidental Death Insurance
    5. Low introductory balance transfer rate
    6. 24-hour customer service

Because the Titanium Card will not offer a Cashback Bonus(R) award, a lower purchase APR will be possible with this new Card. You can request to convert your Platinum Account to Titanium; however, doing so will cause the Cashback Bonus award you have earned to be forfeited.

Instead, you can keep your existing Account and apply for a separate Titanium Account once it is available.

Everyone let us know what you think about the new product.

I may keep my Discover Platinum Card that give me cash back bonus since the Titanium Card will not have cash back rewards. How low is the APR? 9.9% ? Two cycle billing ? I passed. No thanks.

George, you got it, and get rid of the 2 cycle billing too, and we should be set!

    2 cycle is DISCOVERCARD...

    2 cycle @ 9.99% should still be better than 1 cycle @ 13.99%, I think...

    George,

Get rid of two billing cycle and I got some other credit cards having 9.9% fixed or 8.40% APR with single cycle.

How about Discover Titanium Smart Card like Blue or Target Visa? It's just an idea.
