Nexcard Alert

    I called Nextcard today to check the balance and the automatic system informed me that my account will be closed July 10 because the FDIC could not find a buyer for my account.

    I called the service rep and asked that my account be closed today and that the account be noted "closed at consumers request". I will follow up with a return recite requested letter. What a bummer!

    I just called, and got the standard account info (balance, limit, etc.). My available credit is still what it was before. At what point did the message play?

    I haven't checked the status of the account and I paid off the balance of the account over the weekend. I owe them something like $8.00.

    That means you get to keep the account. Congratulation. When I called the automatic system would not give me a balance or any other normal choices. I hit zero to get to a live person who gave me the balance.

    You may want to close the account yourself so it is noted as closed at consumers request.

    Oh and I asked the rep what percentage of the accounts were being picked up and the rep said 30%. It looks like the quote of the post from the other board was pretty accurate.

    I logged on my Nextcard account access and the on-line still give me avail credit. Then I called to the automated system and the system told me that my account will be closed after July10 because they couldn't find the buyer. Oh well, that's goes my 9.9% fixed Nextcard.

    Sorry to here that. For me it was a good card. I never had any problems.

    I have NextCard since Sept.98. They approved me for $1000 with 15.99% APR when I had a couple of charge-off accounts. They increased my credit limit and lower my rate when my charge-off accounts came off after 7 years. Oh well, it has been fun with Nextcard and it is my first internet Visa Card.

    erik,
    On one hand, I'm glad the account wasn't closed, since I need it for my ratios; HOWEVER, I shudder to think what these people will do with it :)

    Who knows. Maybe they will just bump up the interest rate. If my card had been transferred I would have waited to see.

    Here is a sample letter for closing this card:

    Please confirm receipt of this letter and closure of my account in writing in the next thirty (30) days.

    Well I got my cancellation letter in the mail today so if the card ends up being reported incorrectly I have proof I closed it before they did.

    I wonder which accounts have been keep alive...
    I had a card with a limi of $7500 .. never late, always paid in full....
    Equifax score somewhere around 720.
    Account closed.... :( I did like it

    Probabily they´ve keept only those accounts which are paying late fees... :) and have a low credit limit :)

    Maybe this description fits the 30% of the accounts ... :))) lol
