1* And it you're one of the unlucky ones like me whose card was closed it means that you get to pay more for your insurance and loans simply because you didn't make next card enough money. The credit Maffia is set up so that if one mobster don't steal enough from you you're set up to be picked off by another of their hit men. 2*Better to be paranoid, than dead.
I just called. My account is still open. For the record, I have a $4,000 CL, and have only about $100 available. I have always paid on time, never late. No negatives on my credit reports. I'm at a loss as to why they kept my account open. I will wait until I hear from the new bank. I am trying to pay off Nextcard within the next five or six weeks.
Congratulation. They may have kept you because they are making money off of you. I paid mine off every month.
I'm trying to figure out the reason why some accounts were kept open and others closed. It seems pretty random. For the record, my limit is 12,500 at 9.9% with no annual fee and I don't run a balance; I rarely use the card. My account is still open and will be transferred transferred to Merrick. I'm curious to see what Merrick will do to the limit and to the interest rate. If the limit goes down and the APR goes up, then Merrick will lose a customer very, very fast.
Re: Nextcard Alert Curiouser: Did you get any info from anyone about this or did you call? Specifically, did you hear from Merrick? I got nothing - no letter, email, or phone call. I only found out because I called. I have been following this story for about four months here. I am very interested in what Merrick will do with our accounts.
Re: Nextcard Alert I called the toll free number on the back of my card. The customer service rep said that my account had been acquired by Merrick Bank. I have yet to receive anything in writing from anyone.
Re: Nextcard Alert REDUCE YOUR CREDIT LIMIT TO $1,000 INCREASE YOUR INTEREST RATE TO LIKE 24% OR SOME HIGHER "JOKE" INTEREST RATE...AND CHARGE YOU AN ANNUAL FEE OF UP-TO $72.00!!! THAT'S ALL!!!
Re: Nextcard Alert Today I got my letter from the FDIC dated July 1 stating that NEXTBANK is closed. Please discontinue using your nextcard credit card. Etc. . . . Well better late than never! Our tax dollars at work.
Re: Nextcard Alert George forgot to add screw up your score which in turn jacks your other creditors rates and premiums . lb
