I heard through some friends of mine in the banking industry that an acquirer had been identified for the Nextcard accounts. After a couple of phone calls, I was able to get through to a rep who indicated that there were negotiations occurring regarding the transition of accounts to the acquirer, but that they could not provide any additional information at this time.

    Has anyone else heard anything?

Now that is damn funny. The "F.D.I.C. Visa"! Holy Shnikes! Yes, it will be a short-lived debacle. Although I hope I'm wrong, my hunch is that whoever takes them over will start charging an annual fee right out of the gate, maybe even lower the CL's. Oh well, such is life in the credit game.

I had a BK over four years ago, but have managed to get a few cards; DMB, GM MC, CAP1, AMEX (Corp Gold & Costco), Target Guest, Kohls, and of course, Nextcard. I keep all cards (except Amex) under $100 per month and never carry a balance. I use the Amex for larger purchases and traveling and payoff monthly. Since the Amex is a corporate card, the balances are not reported to the CB's. That way my debt to CL ratio stays low. This is a great site.

I CAN'T see them (whoever buys it) reducing the credit limits or charging a fee...

If they did, it would be the FIRST one that did that I know of...
