I've been with Nexcard since early to mid 1999. I had the 9.99% fixed from day one. Just a few months back, they jacked my APR to 19.99% by putting that little flyer in my bill. I called and complained and they sent me a letter with the most lame excuses as to why they bumped me up (I have never been late or OTL with ANYONE!) Nextcard did state that they would reduce my APR back to 9.99 but never did. Betty (superv. @ Nextcard) said that even if the CSR did say that, they were incorrect and my APR could not be adjusted. Well, F-THEM. I paid off the balance and closed the account. Good riddance to this piece of crap card! Greg
I'M HOLDEN' ON till I see what happens in the next few months...SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2002...sold to a MAJOR TOP 10... They are still a "PENNY STOCK"...96% LOSS!!!
George, I was going to do the same, but they screwed with me so much, I thought it best just to toast them! Besides, I am on a mission to pay off nearly all my debt this year and keep only one Visa/MC, my AMEX and my LOC. That should be enough for me! Greg
I still want to know if closing the NextCard account will raise my score, since I have so many accounts.
It suprises me how some CC companies are so erratic in their treatment of their customers. NextCard was my first CC I got early in my repair journey. They knew I didn't have a lot of options so they jacked me to 24.99 to start. I just got them to lower to prime + 2.99 with a floor of 9.99. They pull a soft every month on my TU, my only clean report, so I thought I'd go for it. The only thing I did to ensure they didn't go back on their word was to send a secure email after logging in to the NextCard site so I would have it in writing.
