Unable to find a buyer and facing an early amortization of NextCard's securitized credit card assets, the FDIC decided this week to shut down about 800,000 NextCard credit card accounts. The FDIC began notifying cardholders on Tuesday, via email, of the deactivation action, which took effect yesterday. Ron.
Hi, Even though I don't have Nextcard, I think it is very tacky that they are informing people through e-mail that your account is closed. What if you changed email addresses, or you no longer have internet access? I know some people are getting letters, but I hate the way this company closed accounts. Sadly, some people won't find out their account is closed until they try to use the card. I am sorry if this has all been said before, but I just wanted to vent...... I'm o.k. now
I got both the email and the snail mail letter. The email went to my Yahoo account and was received on Monday, even though I didn't check it until today. I got the letter yesterday. Doesn't matter though, I closed it on the 9th.
