I know that isn't my problem. This is my new Dell I got approved for last week - I haven't even gone out to nextcard with this machine yet.

How about your privacy/security settings, are they all set correctly?

Yeah. I even lowered my security for my Internet level. I can't even get to www.nextcard.com - says page cannot be found.

I can't load www.nextcard.com either. Looks like they're having some connectivity problems. When some people can access a site but others can't, it may mean that the site's ISP is having trouble.

If you're using IE, go to Help, then About IE, and make sure your Cipher Strength reads 128-bit.

Also, your security levels should be set to at least medium. I think if they're too low, certain sites, like secured ones (https) won't even load.

mindcrime, that wouldn't explain MY experiencing the same difficulty tonght that tmitchell did.

I can access my bank's 128-bit secure site as well as many others. NextCard.com simply won't load here either. (And it always did for me before.)

    Psychdoc,

I don't what else to say. I've had no problems accessing both links, several times.

Well, I guess what I'm trying to say is that occasionally an ISP will have faulty connections to the full internet due to nameserver-related issues or even backbone connectivity problems. When that happens, the web sites hosted by that ISP will not be accessible to the full internet namespace. This obviously negates any problem with tmitchell's browser settings, lol. :)

    Doc,

Okay thanks for the info. I didn't know anything about what you just said. Makes sense though.

LOL, well, actually I was just feeling sorry for old tmitchell sitting there frustrated for an hour or so tweaking his browser on his brand new Gateway computer and getting nowhere. Other than that, I have no dogs running in this race. :)

I just called them. They confirmed that the site was down (as of now, 11:50 a.m. ET), but said that they would be back up "within the hour" (direct quote). When I asked what was wrong, she said "technical problems." I wonder if those technical problems have to do with how well they paid their ISP or if it had something to do with the IT staff they laid off. :)

Friggers! Am I the only one that has to call them 14 days after my payment to remind them to realeass the funds to avail credit? $250 in payments were supposed to be realeased as of midnight last night and they have not been.

This is not the first time this has happened with them. They SUCK! I'm closing it.
