I paid my Nextcard account down to zero yesterday in honor of my change of apr. from 6.9% fixed teaser rate to 15.99% variable rate effective August 15th. The new rate is only upwardly variable as it can never be less than 15.99%. The apr. calculation is prime + 8.99%. My Planet Feedback correspondence with the Executive office failed to get me either an apr. reduction or an increase in limit. However, the Exec. office assured me that I would be considered for promotional offers! When I read this I thought Ahhh!!! Or maybe as Dogman would say Arf Arf!!! They must be crumbling. Soon I'll get a 9.9% offer. Yesterday, I received an E-mail from Nextcard encouraging me to use the card. They offered me double rewards points when I.... Buy gas in the city where I live??? I guess this is Nextcard's promotional offer. LOL Oh well! Actually, I kind of like Nextcard. The card has a $6,500 limit. The Nextcard web site is great. Also, they pulled my rotten EQ report (673 scorepower with a BK in the public record) along with TU when they approved me in April. I was actually surprised that they gave me the card when I realized they pulled EQ. Anyone else get any promotional offers in anticipation of August 15th?? If so let's compare them. Is yours better than mine or mine better than yours? Jim
I have a nextcard with 4700 limit, and double rewards points for all charges. After all the horrible feedback I decided to check what my apr was. I was suprised it's only 10.99 apr. I guess I slipped thru their greedy clutches.
Jim- I find it interesting that Nextcard would approve with a bk on file. As I have been denied last March with a bk-13 on file from 96'. Best regards, Sam
Oh, I've got you beat! My 9.9 promo went to 18.99% on July 25. I didn't get my promotional offer until yesterday, but... Not only do I get double points when I buy gas, but also when I EAT in the city where I live! SO THERE! p.s. - Didn't wait for my August 15 statement with the higher rate - already sent the balance to Discover at 7.9%
Hi Leo! Let's hope it stays that way. BTW - nothing new on my Creditexpert inquiries. 7 out of 9 deleted the first time around. Right now I am re-disputing 1 verified inquiry and disputing 2 others for the first time. Jim
cool about the gas deal. I just sent in my payment in full in anticipation of Aug 15. I now have a zero balance. I was going to buy 1 drink per month at my local Chevron (just to age the account). It'll cost them more to print my statement than I will spend per month on their card. They'll get 1.06 charge from me per month til the card hits 12 mos old. Then, unless things change, Bye Bye. felt good to zero out my greed card
Hi Marie! Our credit history is so similar that I think we will eventually get lower Nextcard apr.'s as our BK's age some more. Jim
I got the Nextcard before my fico jump. I have a baby 750 credit limit. It may get cancelled before they have a chance to improve it They should have a warning : "I'm not a prime credit card, but I play one on TV".
All of the 20+ inquiries I disputed ( except for 3 that are still pending) have come off. I wish that transunion or equifax had online inquiry disputes.
MINE IS 9.99% FOR NOW...but I'm watching them like a hawk... WIFE'S 3/4+ PAID AS OF TODAYS CHECK I MAILED...I'M WAITING FOR A RESPONSE TO MY (HER) E-MAIL...see other post... Just curious...what would happen to NEXT CARD if EVERYBODY PAID IN FULL or balance transferred it AWAY that got the 18.99% "JACK UP RATE"???
CUSTOMER'S WILL FLEE IN DROVES...Wouldn't they make MORE money at PRIME...OR EVEN 9.99% than they they will at 18.99% ???
THE BIG MAN HAS ARRIVED!!!!! - Just kidding GEORGE - LOL Seriously though I almost missed your Nextcard thread. Now that I have read it and your comments here, I can only agree with you. But I suspect that only a few of the 1 million Nextcard customers even know they are getting a change in terms. Most probably threw the disclosures away without reading them. We are in the minority here. Good luck with your letter. Jim
