I owe nextcard around $3500 and never have been late on payments. I pay well over the minimum each month. I received a letter from NCO yesterday. It stated that I am past due 189.00 to nextcard and that NCO has been requested by nextcard/mastertrust to assist them in collecting this.

Anyway, should I start with a validation letter to NCO?

    Thanks for the advice.

I sent a validation letter to NCO.

NCO received validation letter on 2-7...haven't heard anything from them as of yet. I pulled my credit report today. Nextcard account is showing closed by consumer....which I have never requested. Experian has updated the account through january, 2003. Not showing any lates, etc. Transunion and Equifax have not updated since last summer. Should NCO have sent the credit bureau's something showing this Nextcard account is being disputed?

Also, please keep in mind this account is still owned by Nextcard/Mastertrust.

Also, what should be my next step/course of action?

    Thanks

What is the address that you have for NCO, I am trying to dispute their wrong info on my nextcard account but I do not have their mailing address.

    Thanks

No, if they were reporting separately, they could show their account in dispute, not Nextcard's.

    What's NCO Address?

When I had to deal with NCO, I sent a validation request, and the responded with less than adequate validation. I responded to them basically stating that they had not satisfied my validation request, and if they did not satisfy that request in the next 5 days (the end of the initial validation time frame) that there would be no more correspondance other than me filing suit against them. I sent that letter fedex, and 3 days later, they complied and removed all notations off of all my CR's.

When dealing with NCO, I have found that it is better to keep their feet close to the fire.

    RawHide,

Thanks a lot for your reponse. Is it possible for you to share your correspondence with them (validation letter and follow-up Fedex letter) with us.

    Thanks

    What's NCO Address?

First of all, I noticed that someone asked for their address. They have offices scattered all over the country so the one given may very well be incorrect for the one that is actually handling the account. Secondly I noticed that a poster said they sent validation on 2/07 and have received nothing from them as of yet. One should never let more than 30 days go by before escalating the issue. I allow 30 days then the next letter which is estoppel then give them 15 days after that before moving on to the next letter which also gives them 15 days to respond and the next one is also 15 days to respond before filing suit.
Exactly! Keep on shoving them right on down the road with no let up whatever.

    What's NCO Address?

I think the Horsham, PA is their main address. That is the one that I used.

    What's NCO Address?

I have a CCB charge-off that was given to NCO. Sent validation to them right after finding out they had it. Mine was a Washington, DC office. Got green card back and received nothing. As I got ready to send the 15 day letter, I was notified by an attorney collection agency that they were now handling the CCB charge off. The NCO rats gave it them, I guess upon my requesting validation. Now I have to deal with these "legal eagles"!! Good luck.

That was nice of them. They did you a great favor. All you have to do is learn how to handle the situation. You said you were going to send them a 15 day letter, right? If you have not done so already do it now. Do not delay. Just keep marching them on down the road as though nothing has changed at all. Don't give them any breathing room at all.
And now you start dealing with them in exactly the same way you did with NCO.

Now you have 2 of them on the hook. And it appears that you have an extra violation against NCO. Apparently you are doing great. Keep up the good work and you should come out just fine.

UHHHH. Just one little detail. What are you planning to do with NCO when that 15 days is up?
