I called NextCard on a lark yesterday to see if I could improve the terms of my account any. I've got a $4,500 line of credit with 18.99% APR (my worst APR by far right now). Although "Brian" could do nothing to raise the LOC, he did cheerfully lower my APR to 12.99%. Hey! Not too shabby for a quick phone call. I recommend that anyone who has a NextCard in good standing give it a shot while they're being generous. Doc
Hey Doc, You want hear something completely unbeleivable? When I first started my credit cleanup and no one would give me a card, I bit when 1st premier came calling. I know there were a lot of fees etc. but I had to start somewhere. I've had it for over 2 years now. On Tuesday they reduced my annual fee to $10.00 and gave me - ready for this - 9.9% for the life of the card. To me that is amazing.
Doc: Is there any indication that they pulled a credit report before they gave you the better interest? I want to ask them to lower mine but am attempting to lower inquiries. On another issue, I had the impression you were from a city where orange and white are the favorite colors. I have seen some things since then that indicate otherwise. Was I right in my initial thought? Just curious.
Re: NextCard: nice news for a chang Hey, Gumbo, the NextCard customer service rep promised that they would use the already-pulled account reviews from Trans Union. Although he specifically said they wouldn't pull a new hard inquiry, let's hope that's the case! I am in Knoxville, Tennessee, home of the UT Vols (and your orange and white reference), but more importantly -- since athletics should always take a backseat to academic endeavors -- home of wonderful research and public service programs resident to that great land-grant institution actually born two years before the State of Tennessee was founded, the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. The "Message of the Day" number is in Washington state because I'm using a free integrated messaging service for that, and they pick the number. (For anyone who'd like to set up their own Message of the Day, lol, I recommend any of these integrated messaging services: J2.com, efax.com, 2bZD.com, Ureach.com, HotVoice.com, k7.net, onebox.com -- and there are others.) Doc
Re: NextCard: nice news for a chang Those who disagree are sorely misguided, Hermit5. I take it that you are among the sorely misguided. That's ok. I forgive you, and I'm sure your evil fifth grade English teacher forgives you as well. Doc
