It's not a pre-approval - but it's one of their best rates available on their site:

We had our Nextcard accounts cancelled like a lot of other people. We always paid on time. Fleet has a bad reputation so we are afraid to risk an inquiry as we BK'd in '97.

If anyone applies for this card let us know the results and also do they verify employment, income etc. The reason I ask is that I am starting my Masters degree in 2 weeks and while I am working now, I soon won't be. Let us know what kind of credit problems you had that lead you to get a Nextcard account in the first place.

    Thanks mj

I don't see anything special about the application...it doesn't say enter your NEXTCARD account # anywhere...

Bump. I may bump this comment a couple of times if necessary. Sorry in advance but we both lost our Nextcards. If you guys get lucky and get Fleet, we want to know about it so we can apply.

Still waiting for someone decent to buy our accounts. We thought it would happen months ago or we would have closed our accounts..

    I wouldn't wait.

Fleet is a standard application - and they have a serious problem with BK showing on credit reports.

Aspire sent out some "pre-approvals" to selected accounts - if you didn't get an offer by now, you probably won't get one.

I wouldn't hold much hope for anyone else buying the accounts.

Sorry to sound so pessimistic - but the whole "sub-prime" tinge that Next had is spooking potential investors- that's why the FDIC had such a hard time getting anyone to buy the accounts. Now with regulators coming down hard on anyone resembling a sub-prime issuer (note cap1's stock free-fall) ...

    Good luck to you...
