Ok, here's the deal with what I am going through.

On my Equifax report, I was showing a tradeline (Aspire Visa) with zero 30 days late, five 60 days late, three 90+ dates late and closed by credit grantor. I disputed this as never late, closed by self as I was never late and it was cancelled by my better half. Well they came by saying it was accurate. I disputed a 2nd time with the same reason. This time, it came back as 4 times 30 days late, 9 times 60 days late and 17 times 90 days late. I can't believe this and almost think Equifax is playing games with me as they also added a previous address that was not mine back on my report. When I ask them where they got the bad old address, they give me some crap about one of my active accounts giving them the data. What a croak as it does not appear on any of my other reports nor have I ever lived at this bogus address. When I asked them if I could request procedural evidence on how they varified the Aspire account, they tell me some crap about how it was done by mail and how they can't send me any info. They won't even mail me a copy of my credit report stating that I told them they had a wrong current address, which I did because they had an apt # on it where I am not in an apt. It's funny how they won't fix my address and won't send me anything either. Sorry for rambling but I'm just pissed at them. Transunion and Experian has this old Aspire account reporting correctly but Equifax doesn't and it just get worse with them. Someone please help. This account had never gone to collections of any type and had never been late.

The acount was closed not by them but by my girlfriend.

BTW, how can a account that was only 4 years old at the time it was closed have over 4 years of 90+ days lates without it being canceled or charged off? I don't get Aspire or Equifax.

It seems very odd that the account was closed by someone besides yourself.

If it was your wife .. then I suppose she might have been able to do something .. but your girlfriend???

Seems a total verification from the Original Creditor (OC) is in order.

    to include
    account opening documents
every charge made by a card holder
    every payment made by you
    every fee and charge
    running totals for each month
    account closing documentation

I know that there should be more information also .. any one else want to chip in?

It might be odd that it's my GF I had a joint account with but at the time when we got the card, I had only a couple of secured cards and a car loan and nothing else on my credit report. Because of the lack of credit I couldn't qualify for a unsecure card. Well back around 2000, I requested her to close the account as it was pretty much maxed out and we weren't using it. Reguardless of the situation, I gotta get this thing off my report because it's killing me. I don't understand how anyone can have 4+ years of 90 days late or 60 and 90 days lates without any 30s. Sheese, CB&T Aspire is a killer. So is Equifax!

BTW, I sent them an email requesting all statements showing the lates or for them to either delete the tradeline to changing the it to "Never Late." I wonder how long that will take.

Definitely new to this, but I suggest you send your procedural request to the CRA in writing. You then have a paper trail if they continue to refuse your request. My understanding is that they are not doing you a favor honoring your procedural request, it is your lawful right. (I would suggest searching CN for more info on procedural requests.)

Additionally, you might call Aspire to see what's up. I've read several threads where the OC indicates that the CRA never contacted them for verification and have been willing to write a letter indicating such. Others have had success with the OC sending a UDF with the accurate info.

My understanding is that the OC doesn't have to validate (validation applies to CAs) unless you are in California.

    Good luck!

If this wasn't sent to a CA then the OC is required to validate. If sent to a CA then the CA must validate with the OC. Send the PR to the CRA, and try giving the OC a call and if there is no result there, try the goodwill or validation approach. Either way, hold the OC and the CRA to making sure that this is fixed i.e. document every correspondence with CRRR.

So then .. this was a card that your g/f had that you were a autorized user .. it sounds like to me. Please correct me when I get it wrong.

If this is her card then it seems that it shouldn't be on your report.

Possibily dispute it as "not my account."

    any one else??

There is a big difference between 'authorized' and 'joint' user. I finally had my DHs name removed as authorized user on my sears card. I think it would have been much tougher to remove him if it had been a joint account. If you were only an authorized user, you should be able to use the 'not mine' approach with this. If you are a joint user, that approach might not work.

Anyone have or know of where I might be able to get a Form Letter for a PR with CRA that I might use as an outline?

BTW, I always assumed I was a joint but thinking about this I never signed anything. From what I remember, I came home one day after work and she said "I got a new card and put you on it also." Maybe I have always only been AU. Hmmm. I guess I'm going to have to hit up the OC on that also.

    Thanks!!

There is a letter in the Sample Letters portion of the site.

As an aside, I was an AU on an MBNA account with some late pays. I contacted MBNA and they had no problem removing the TL.
