Nissan Saga-Not a pretty story/vent

Alright, I'm venting. I have a 2002 Nissan Sentra. Our only car. In early June, the main computer died. It was towed in. It's under warranty and we received a rental. We were told 2 weeks to repair as they had 3 that had gone out.

I'm anxious to get this car back as I want to trade it in for a new car as it was financed when I had fair/poor credit at 14.9%. I can now get a much better rate.

And, here we sit with no end in site, 7 weeks later, and no one knows when the car will be fixed as they now need 13 of those parts and no one in the whole world has them. (??)

We've contacted Nissan's consumer dept. and, while they were very nice, they have offered no real assistance. We are going on vacation and, at first, they tried to tell us we couldn't take the rental car. Uh, no.....I don't think so. I had to fight with them to get us a car that we could take on vacation.

The lemon law won't work because, though it says any repair over 30 days, it must be less than 24,000 miles. Sigh, we have 25,000.

Just how long can they keep this car??? I want to get it traded in and lower my interest. :(
OK, done venting, thanks for reading!

Uh that's bad. But on the bright side, you can go on vacation and put all the miles on someone elses car :) Less miles = more resale value.

I would probably make myself a pain in the repair shops back end. Did they look for parts in Mexico???? A gazillion sentras there, they are just called tsurus.

Hey, jlynn, I'll ask...Yeah, figure I'm just going to bug until they take care of it. I know about the trip miles..that is good...but, the truth be known, we wouldn't have even had the car to take cuz it would have already been traded in...:(

What is really bugging me is the desire to trade it in..and get rid of that high interest, if that makes any sense. I paid my CC's down so I'd be at peak ability to get the best rate and everything is ready and, stomping foot, I wanna do it!

LOL BTW, my DD is pregnant and your name is one being considered for a girl...jaelynne...is how they are thinking of spelling it..:)

Wow. I've never owned a Nissan, but I was under the impression that they were reputable. This definitely gives me a new perspective !

If you financed the car through Nissan, you might want to notify the lender that unless they step in and get the dealer to do his job and honor the warranty within a reasonable time, you will stop payment and heaven help the finance company if they report you as not paying.

If you look at the papers you signed when you bought the car, if the dealer arranged the financing there has to be a paragraph in the loan Documents that says something like "The Holder of this debt is subject to the same claims and defenses as the original lender (ther dealer)". Not performing under the warranty within a reasonable time is breach of warranty and breach of warranty gives you the option to suspend payment until the contract is back in compliance. This paragraph was brought about around 30 years ago when the FTC eliminated the "Holder in Due Course" doctrine. If the lender brings that up, saying "we didn't sell you the car, we just financed it" that's Holder in Due Course and has been illegal for about 30 years.

If you financed the car yourself, without the dealer arranging it, ignore the above.

Aww, I like that, although my screen name has nothing to do with it, my DD's middle name is Jae. I like the spelling, just think it looks neat.

    REVENGE:

Take the rental for a 10K mile trip around the usa, take every opportunity to catch air.

Curb it and drive it on the dirt ;)

Drive it like you stole it!

    Lol.

Make them take it in as a trade AS IS since they have to fix it anyways?

Then again if i had that kinda experience with nissan, i might try something else.

i love my german cars, they luv me :)

flying: Unfortunately, ugh, I went through Cap One auto finance..UGH...don't get me started...LOL

And, Jlynn..it's neat, huh? I really like it!!

I don't know if I'd ever buy a Nissan again....I do have pre-paid legal...maybe I should ask them if we have any recourse??
