Midland Credit Management apparently has no license to collect debts here in Florida. If what I've read is correct, they must have a license to collect a debt in the state they are collecting - or at least here in Florida. DV or not I would think this is enough to get them to go away...Any thoughts totally appreciated!
I am amazed as I look through the list of collectors I have contacting me - it's not THAT many - but still - not ONE of them has a license to collect here in Florida! That is blowing my mind! Not one of them are legally able to collect the debts they are claiming I owe. Whether I owe or not is irrelevant because they aren't legal. How should I approach this? I was thinking a letter to each of them and then a letter to each credit union. Correct me if you think I'm wrong, but I read what the Department of Finance for Florida said and it says pretty clear that a Collection Agency must be licensed to practice (collect or solicit) here in Florida. I then looked up each name in the directory and they were either expired or literally not there. If there is a loop hole I don't know about, please let me know. I can't see what it could be...but these little rascals are tricky! Thanks! dbaby91
