My brother received a letter from MBNA yesterday and they will discontinue the Garfield MC program. That's the letter that they sent to him: March1,2003 Dear Garfield Credit Card Customer, Thank you for choosing the Garfield MasterCard credit card from MBNA America Bank. I hope the card has exceeded the expectation for service and value. I am writing to inform you about some important changes that will soon affect your Garfield credit card account. Beginning with your June2003 periodic billing cycle , you will no longer be able to earn points towards Garfiedl Bucks rewards certificates because the rewards proram will be ending. However, you'll be pleased to know that you can continuw using your Garfield credit card just as you always have. While the rewards program will end , your credit card will be honored until the expiration date shown on your card(subject to credit availabilityh). You will continue earning points on all purchases you make with the card, up to and through the end of your May 2003 billing cycle. These purchases must appear on your May 2003 statement in order for you to earn the points. I fyou have earned five (5) or more points as of your May 2003 statement, the appropiate number of $5 Garfield Bucks rewards certificates will be automatically issued and mailed it to you in June 2003. If you have earned one (1) or more points as of June 2003 , one final $5 Garfield bucks rewards certificate will be automatically issued and mailed it to you in July 2003.
