I've never used this service, so I can't vouch for it, but I came across this web site that says they can give you a free list of banks that don't use Telecheck or Chexsystems. They say they can also help get you removed from those lists.

    www.newcheckingaccount.com

They also indicate they are affiliated with Lexington Law Firm. Perhaps someone else has had experience with this service and can give you more information.

Try First Convenience Bank located inside of Walmart stores. They are offering second chance checking accounts. They do not use Telecheck or ChexSystems. ID and $20 is the only thing needed.

Also, they offer a Master Card check card.

If you get the account, treat it like gold. These second chance accounts don't come along everyday.

I know of a bank that only uses telecheck. Are you sure that you are on both? If you are only on chexsystems..email me and I will let you know of a bank that you can use.

We had success with Bank of America. I recently saw a press release from them that stated they will open an account if you are on chexsystems, if...

    a) it has been one year and the amount was paid

    or

    b) it has been 3 years if the amount wasn't paid

I believe the information stays on for 5 years.

My biggest complaint is that I am listed on it for a paid amount of $13 that sat for two weeks while I was away on a family emergency! That is so trivial. The bank that listed me said once it goes past 72 hours their requirement is to list everyone no matter what. It teaches me to think a local bank might be better to deal with. Another 4 years and I might just send them a letter telling them that their system is a piece of sh*t. Till then, I will just nicely call every 30 days asking for a Goodwill removal.

A year ago before I got my Chexsystems report all clean, I saw the article you mentioned about BofA.

You are reffering to the Wall Street Journal.

I printed this article out to take to the BofA branch before my report was clean. The newest info on that report was over 3 years old. The guy told me they would not honor that because they still have the final say about approving a checking account.

I was mad that when I did get it cleaned up I went back to the same Mgr. who didn't remember me. I inquired about opening an account with them and he took my info and said they would open one but because of my credit no debit card for 6 months to show no NSF activity. I told him who I was and when he remembered me I told him no thanks and walked across the street to Suntrust!

I'm on chex and I got an account with usaa bank. They do check tele though. You do not have to be affiliated with the military, contrary to what the site (usaa.com) says. You might find chexvictims.com to be a helpful site, if you dig around a little they have most of the info that the pay sites do for free.

    FYI:

B of A also runs a FICO in addition to ChexSystems. A branch manager told me they are looking for a minimum FICO of around 525.
