Noob question - Unlimited Credit Reports?

    Hi all,

I'm just getting my feet wet in my quest to undo the damage caused by years of my "head in the sand" approach to money management. My credit is a mess (FICO is hovering in the low 500s), but it won't get better if I don't try, right?

So I've been reading like crazy, trying to determine where / how to start, and have learned a lot from this forum. Here's where I'm at - I pulled all three CRs last April and am working off those for now as I figure out how to handle each derogatory (mostly collection accounts). I'm planning on pulling them again as some of the items included in the April reports were scheduled to drop off by now, and I want to be sure I'm working with the most current data possible.

I'm sure I'll have lots more questions as I begin writing my letters, but for now, I'd like to know how one monitors their reports as things start to change? Is there a service that will allow you unlimited pulls? Or even one per month? Or do you just monitor your FICO and assume it's working as your score goes up?

Please let me in on the secret. I'm baffled.

Glad to hear you've finally got your head out of the sand :). Welcome to Creditnet!

First, make sure you take advantage of the 3 free credit reports you can pull through annualcreditreport.com. You may have already done that earlier this year.

Then, if you need to monitor all 3 of your credit reports every month, a lot of people like either TrueCredit or TripleAlert. I haven't used them personally, but as usual, I've heard mixed reviews.
