I checked the creditor's site and it appears that Nordstrom's pull primarily from EXP. Has this been anyone's experience here? This is for the Nordstrom's Visa. I need a prime card that pulls from Experian only. Thanks!!!

For the regular Nordstrom's card they pulled BOTH EX and TU for me. This happened in NJ at the store so I don't know if it applies to a Visa application.

Macy's and Pier One pulled EX only for me in the Northeast. Other people may have gotten something different w/ Macy's though.

What kind of cut-off scores is Nordstroms looking for?

They just pulled equifax on me, I'm in the northwest. I don't know about their score requirements though.

They just gave me the generic answer of ..." We use all 3".

I applied yesterday and no inq. on any report. I'll post as soon as they pull an inq. on me. Thanks for getting back.

They checked EX thank God. I hope they see that 5 of the 6 inq. were done in a months time looking for a mortgage. WFFNB/Victorias Secret said that we were declined do to numerous inq's. We told them that they all were pulled while looking for a mortgage, they said, oh, I guess you are right, well, the reason we can't give you an account is that you were late a few times in 1985 on your Lerner's account. 1985!!!!!!! Who says they don't keep records. I hope Nordstrom Visa approves. EX 724 score.

From everyone's posts it seems like the CRA of choice for Nordstrom's tends to be EX. Maybe it is an overflow situation when they approach the others. Just guessing...
And good luck w/ getting that card.

Thanks, they just moved into our area and my lady likes their stuff and with their card, they give really decent specials once in a while.

Well of course with my wonderful luck, they pull TU. They say since I have 9 inq. that is too much and they declined even after I told them that 6 of them were for a mortgage and all were within the 30 day time period. They didn't care. Don't believe the hype when they say that mortgage/auto inq. account for just one inq. This may be true for FICO, but not for the creditor's. I can't believe I'm getting penalized for shopping around for the best mortgage rate.

Maybe someone here will be able to tell you where (and if) you can call for a reconsideration. If you haven't already spoken to a mgr., you could call back and try that route. Maybe you'll get someone who understands how the mortgage inqs. work (and should add up) a little differently than reg. inqs.

Hey, I have a theory here. We both got Nordstrom department store cards and as we later found out only Experian was checked. We live in S. CA and we BK'd in 97. We applied because I read a bunch of posts here saying that Nordies is BK friendly if you handle them with kid gloves.

My theory is that Nordies, Macy's etc. only give out visa cards to long established customers or people with perfect credit. This leaves out all of us.

Anyone who wants to deal with Nordies should go back and read the old posts and apply for the regular store card the way we did. You know the kid glove method. I read about this from Jim. It worked.
