I logged into to BellSouth.net today. There's a new credit repair link on the main page that takes you to http://www.nforc.org. It caught my attention because it was linked from the BellSouth web site.

What's next? Credit kiosks? One hour credit repair? Credit repair centers at the mall?

One thing is certain, the credit repair market is fragmented and anyone with enough experience (and motivation) could jump in and carve out a profitable portion of it for themselves.

Beware! The site has many spelling, grammar, and syntax errors. It is amateur.

The tip-off is that they are in Ga. a State with NO regulation of credit collection or credit repair agencies.

Really $400 I think would be very cheap. I have heard that there are people that charge $2-3000 for credit repair depending how bad it is. If you had bad credit the mortgage rate difference would pay for the $2-3000 in one year based on a $100,000 loan. It is very time consuming. Charlie

Hello Im new to this board...but I can give you some info on NFORC because I been a member since they have started for about a year and a half now and they have been successful in removing negative items from all 3 credit bureaus...

The reason the site seems flimsy I would think is because they have not had many members as its been only a recent company...they have me assigned to an attorney that was stated in the contract who disputes all my reports and has never disputed any positive items...they seem to also offer many services from healthcare to banking and a lot lot more that I received in their membership guide that Id be happy to scan the information and pass along to anyone interested in knowing more about. And no Im NOT a person from the NFORC company. Its a company that needs a lot more support instead of places like Lexington Law Firm that rip you off...

Credit Repair - National Foundation On Restoring Credit

    http://www.nforc.org./myths.html
    =================================

    Myth # 4:
Disputing a credit report is easy and any consumer can do it themselves.

Disputing a credit report is easy. Getting results from the credit bureaus as a layperson is amazingly difficult, complex, and infuriating. The Federal Trade Commission receives more complaints against credit bureaus than any other type of business. In February 2000 the 3 major credit bureaus paid a fine of 2 ½ million dollars for ignoring consumers requesting information regarding their file. Remember the credit bureaus are primarily interested in protecting their profits. Investigating consumer disputes consumes these profits. Short of sparking a mass number of lawsuits, the bureaus do everything in their power to impede your progress with credit restoration.

Restoring your own credit is like repairing your own transmission or representing your self in court; it is possible, but you have to be willing to invest the time to learn the processes, assume the risks of your inexperience and realize that it will probably take you longer and you will be less effective than a professional.

    Any thoughts on myth 4?

    NFORC.ORG for real

I've been in Real Estate for over 35 years and in Mortgage Lending for about 3 years, wrote a book about managing your own credit in the 80's, and helped a whole lot of people with their personal credit (as an included service) so they could buy their homes.

I've taken some webinars given by Bill Cloyd and he knows more than anyone I know about credit, including me....a lot more! I understand he formerly was on the collection side. His business model is to franchise out the idea and his co performs the "attorney-based" repair efforts. So as to the syntax on various Franchisee sites, I think you could expect that.

Extremely innovative, is the way I describe his business model. I've had a private conversation with him and although he was looking at me as a potential Franchisee, I was just looking for credit score information and he has the book on it. His lawyers have the credit bureaus in court all the time and get all sorts of classified info about the scoring models and other "tricks" of the credit bureau racket.

Sure, it pays to be skeptical but not everything is a scam if it doesn't appear "perfect". I'm not lecturing but suggest you throw a little dose of common sense in too because if you know anything about credit and you check out what they do you will find exactly what I did...the real deal. As to his Franchisee's?...can't speak for them but I know the services Cloyd's NFORC provides to Franchisees are based in hard core reality, expertise, and results.

Instead of being interested as a franchisee (I already have a good business), I look at their services as a vendor, a bonus product I know about, that I can pull out when I need serious credit help for someone.

The way I see it, their services aren't for someone just trying to spiff up their credit, the lawyers will basically wipe the slate almost clean. Of course you have to start over but then, if we are talking about serious repair, starting from ground zero is 5-10 years better than starting in a huge hole.

In closing, NFORC is not a scam but different Franchisees he has out there might have varying levels of competence in their own work, web site, etc. Once it gets from them to NFORC I'm not worried about it. Far from a scam, I'd call NFORC a brilliant and legal way to fight the standard credit injustices!
