I am new to this board so I have been doing a ton of reading but I am a little unclear on one thing..

The SOL in Texas is 4 years from what I gather so if I have negatives on my CR that are older than that what should I do to get them off....A letter to the OC, CRA or who? What is the name of a sample letter could I search for?

    Let my journey begin.....

The SOL has NOTHING to do with the length of time a negative item can remain on your report.

The SOL is a STATE imposed duration that an action can be brought against you in court.

The time frame an item remains on your report is a FEDERALLY imposed duration of 7 years for most derogatory items, 10 years for positive items.

(Student loans, some BK's and tax liens are examples of some of the items that are exempt from the 7 year limit)

If your items are past the SOL, you should investigate validation with the CA's and 3rd party collectors and/or verification for the OC items. There are sample letters for both in the sample section.

I suggest you read the FAQ first.

I started by disputing with the CRA's as not mine. Some came off that way. The others I need to validate and so on.

I don't know if this is the best way or not.
