I sent certified validation letters to three CA's a month ago tomorrow. I received the return receipt from them and want to know what to do if they do not respond. Send them another validation letter? Any help would be of use...those were my first letters to ever send.
You say you sent them a month ago? But they have min 30 days after the date they received your letters to respond. Not 30 days from the time you sent them.
cypri- I am disputing with the Collection Agencies... Bill-that is what I was curious about..a month from the date sent or received thanks
They have 30 days from the day they receive. Not from the date you sent them. Good Luck. I've had some results at 29 days. John
I meant CRA = Credit Reporting Agency I dispute with the Collection Agency regarding the validation letters and then immediately start disputes with the CRAs! Cypri
I used to do it that way too, cyprigirl. Until I got tired of their stupid run around answers that got me nowhere. Then I stopped fiddling with the CRAs for the most part and just have the creditor/collection agency take it off for me. Of course, once I have their letter in my hands telling me that they want it removed, then I send that to the CRAs just to help speed up the situation. Otherwise it could take a very long time to get any results. I had NCO trying to tell me it could take up to 280 days for the credit bureaus to actually take it off my record no matter how hard they tried to get it off and they suggested that I also send a copy of the letter to the credit bureaus to speed the process up. So I took their advice. Next time I got my credit reports, it was gone. And the fact that the creditor/collector is demanding it's removal simply means that it isn't ever going to come back on me. So it works a lot better that way although it does take a bit more time unless one is having trouble getting it off with the CRAs. Then it's a lot faster.
Bill: I have done it both ways and it has become very effective for me. It helps though if the items are paid. Most of my items were paid except for one or two that were really old and they refused to accept payment for deletion and I was not going to play stupid again and let them screw up my credit even longer when it would be off in a year or the SOL was up. Cypri
Cyprigal: I have done it both ways and it has become very effective for me. I seem to sense that I may have upset you a bit with my post. Hopefully I am wrong in making that assumption. I did not mean to offend, but rather to say what seems to work best for me. Each of us must do that. What works for you is what counts, and in reality, that's all that counts. My post to you was meant strictly as a commentary, not as any indication that I though your way was(is) wrong. Excuse me if I offended. Didn't mean to.
