I posted a while ago looking for advice with a Verizon chargeoff. I had talked to a Verizon "recovery specialist" who verbally offered deletion for payment, but refused to put anything in writing or sign anything. You guys confirmed for me that the offer was bogus. I sent a settlement letter anyway, just hoping...We're talking about less than $200 here, so I'd GLADLY pay to get it off my reports. They ignored my letter. So now what? I had opted for settlement because I know I don't have the documentation to dispute the charge. It involves a cell phone account that I cancelled by phone, but they (apparently) continued billing me for several months afterwards. Since I can't prove when I called to cancel, I can't really dispute their claim that I owe them. Any suggestions as to what to do next? Are they under any obligation to provide me with copies of statements or any other validation? I believe they still own the debt, although the recovery specialist who verbally offered deletion said that I would pay RMA, then send him documentation from RMA for him to delete. That arrangement in itself seems fishy to me... Barring being able to get this thing deleted, is there any benefit to paying RMA anyway and having it show as a paid chargeoff? Doesn't that reage everything and buy me another couple of years of this ugly stain on my credit report? Thanks in advance for any advice.

You need to deal with the CA where you have more protection under FDCPA> THE END ** *** ** LB 59 """"```--~~~~~~~~~--```'""'''
