    OBSOLETE account...how to dispute??

I have seen advice on here to dispute an item with the CRA instead of the original creditor in some situations.
And I have been advised on here to dispute an account as "obsolete".
My question is how do you do this? Dispute something as "obsolete account"?

When you start an on-line dispute with Equifax, these are the only choices that are given for reasons I am disputing:

    - This item does not belong to me.
    - The current balance is incorrect.
    - This is a fraudulent account.
    - Fraudulent charges made on this account.
    - This account is closed.

Is it only possible to do this type of dispute on the phone? The customer services reps at Equifax seen hard to communicate with. Like they only know how to do disputes that are processed to the creditor.

Never dispute anything over the phone - always in writing. Remember those service reps aren't exactly the brightest individuals. And also remember - they are probably somewhere in India or Pakistan.

agreed, but back to the original question.

how do I dispute as "obsolete" when that is not given as a choice to use on-line?

I think that's what Greg is trying to say. Do it in writing. Write a letter saying that this is obsolete and should be removed. Mail it to the CRA certified mail, return receipt requested.

When you write a letter you can say whatever you want.
