Obsolete?

I've run this through the search engine and pulled up nothing. I think it was Lbrown59 that told me that if an account is way past the SOL (like 10+ years past) I can tell the CRAs "obsolete" rather than "not mine". I'm hoping someone can confirm this since I don't recall the original informer. Also, if so, is "obsolete" enough to write (being verbose only one word is so difficult - I have a hard time not adding stuff like PAST SOL to it also.)

You can do obsolete especially if it is that old! If they verify, you can have a field day! If you dispute it online, they don't leave you much room beyond putting obsolete anyways and then you don't have to worry about the verbosity aspect.

The question is how did the account get past their 'adequite safeguards to ensure the accuracy of the reported information'. *COUGH* *COUGH* *COUGH* Boy, I hate allergy season... :)

If a 10+ year old account popped up again, look at the dates that it is being reported under.

Chances are it was re-aged, and then posted, obsolete is correct, but not based on the dates which they are currently posting.

So, you need to demand a 'Johnson v. MBNA' conclusive investigation of the dates being reported, *AND* that it is obsolete.

I just happen to have a short snipplet that I'm working on for a slightly similar dispute. You'll probably want to make the language your own, take a careful look at exactly which dates in the tradeline were altered, and update it.

"This account is reporting false and/or inaccurate opening, and activity dates, and I hereby request under the precedent of Johnson v. MBNA, that the data furnisher conclusively verify the true opening, closing and last payment dates for this account from the original account information, and not from a cursory review of their computer systems. Furthermore, I believe that if the data furnisher correctly reports the true opening, and last activity dates, that this account is obsolete, and are required to be deleted from my consumer credit file for said reason."

    Hello Ice_Siren

I disputed via mail CRRR but did read your message and LBs first - so I kept it to "obsolete.

I'd love to know more about this "field day" that I might get to have though because I had about 25 obsoletes on my CR.

    Thanks!
